Santa Cruz Trek - Cordillera Blanca

Day 1: Lima / Huaraz

Transfer to the bus station to departure by first-class coach to the city of Huaraz , located about 400 Kms. north of Lima . Following the Panamerican Highway north across Lima we will pass several lush green valleys that cut through the coastal desert until we reach the town of Pativilca . Turning inland the main road winds its way up along the Fortaleza River for a good two hours. Finally we reach the Pass of Conococha (4,000 m.a.s.l. / 13,120 ft.) where we will get our first glimpse of the Cordillera Blanca, the highest tropical mountain range in the world. From here the road descends slowly along the Santa River as we pass a vast area of highland pastures. As we approach Huaraz, the vegetation changes into that of an interandean valley, surrounded by clusters of red-tiled houses. Arrival at a hotel and overnight at 3,000 m.a.s.l. / 10,000 ft. Dinner on your own.

Day 2: Huaraz / Llanganuco Lake / Yuracorral (full day Bus Tour)

After the breakfast in the Hotel we will aboard the Bus to go along the Callejón de Huaylas in the north side of Huaraz. Passing different traditional Andean towns, first arriving and making the first stop in Carhuas (2650m), her we will find the traditional made at home Ice-Crams from local fruits, and authentic and ecological Handcrafts Shown in EL ABUELO handcrafts shop, El ABUELO is a shop located in the main square, where we will enjoy Carhuas' native products, then we will continue with our travel to the next stop in the ancient town of Yungay, this city was buried by an Avalanche that fell down from Huascaran Mountain in 1972, the the New Yungay (2500m), from here we have to start going up to the Llanganuco Valley, almost in the base of Huascaran Mountain in its north side, for the entrance to the Llanganuco Valley we will register in the National Parks Control, after we will visit the two lakes of Llanganuco, where we will have Lunch, then in the early afternoon we will continue going up to the portachuelo pass (4767m) if the there is no cloud we will appreciate impression ant peaks of the Mountains, Huascaran, Chopicalqui, Pisco, Huandoy. We will set up our camp site in Cebollapampa.

Day 03: Yuracorral / 69 Lake / Yuracorral (5 - 6 Hours walking)

after the breakfast we will start hiking by the nice valley, with direction to the Chacraraju's base, after 3 hours hiking we will arrive to the nice lake called 69, here we will have snacks and after to visit for a few minutes and take pictures, we will return to the Camp place of Cebollapampa, and we will have lunch, and free afternoon. Overnight camping.

Day 04: Yuracorral / - Pampamachey (6 - 7 hours walking)

After the Andean breakfast, we will start hiking the zig-zag path to the Portachuelo pass at 800 masl, along the path we will enjoy so much, because as we climb to the pass we will be surprised by nice mountains, after 3 hours aprox hiking up we will get the Pass of Portachuelo, then after to have hot lunch here, we will go down in the east side of the Cordillera Blanca. We will walk nice path surrounded by a mountain trees called Polilepys or in local names quenuales. After 3 hours walk down we will arrive to Pampamachey where our mountain staff will be waiting for us with hot drinks, as we wait for the dinner, overnight in Pampamachey.

Day 05: Pampamachey / Paria (6 - 7 hours walking)

Today we will start our trekking, first we will make a short walk down and start going up by the Huaripampa valley in the left side, we will have most beautiful walking by the Andean small villages and full of pastures, we will arrive around 3pm to the Paria small ravine where we will camp at 3800m.

Day 06: Paria - Taullipampa (7 - 8 hours walking)

Today we will go up to the pass of Punta Union (4750m) from here we will have impression ant views of the mountains, landscapes, matching its natural mountain colours in the blue sky, the white mountains, Dark green hills, turquoise lakes, feeling the Andean fresh air at this altitude, from a short stop we will continue now going down until our camping place of Taullipampa (4200m) overnight camping.

Day 07: Taullipampa / Llamacorral (5 - 6 hours walking)

Today we will have easy walking down almost flat area, but after to start walking flat area we will go a short path to the base camp of Alpamayo, 'cause we can't miss to enjoy the world's most beautiful mountain, then we will continue walking down passing by the small lakes named Jatun cocha and Ichic cocha, in a few hours we will get our camp place of Llamacorral at (3800m) overnight camping

Day 08: Llamacorral / Cashapampa / Huaraz(4 hours walking & 3 1/2 bus driving)

From here we will start our last day trekking, going down by the beautiful valley full of plants, as we close to the town of cashapampa the valley will be narrow, and we will finish our trekking for about mid day, so we will go to the hot springs for about 30 minutes walking to have relax after 4 days trek, from here we will aboard our bus to Huaraz to our hotel arriving to Huaraz at 6 or 7pm.

Day 09: Huaraz / Lima

Morning bus ride to Lima, box lunch included on the way. Late afternoon arrival in Lima and transfer to your hotel for overnight. Dinner on your own.
